Аннотация

An original method was used for studying the thermal expansion and the isothermal compressibility of solid parahydrogen in the premelting range of temperatures up to 200 atm. In the immediate vicinity of the melting curve a new kind of phase transformation has been discovered. The parameters of this transformation and their dependence on the history as well as the ortho-para constitution of a specimen are analyzed. A unified description is proposed of the temperature dependence of the coefficients of the thermal expansion of solid parahydrogen at various pressures. The temperature characteristics of the thermal expansivity of solid parahydrogen under various pressures are described by one universal relation. The pressure dependence of the compressibility is analyzed on the basis of the Gruneisen law.
