Аннотация

The absorption of the energy of electromagnetic waves of the high frequency ω by thin conductors in a weak magnetic field parallel to the surface of a plate is investigated theoretically (the conductor thickness d is much smaller than the mean free path l and the radius of curvature of the electron trajectory r, but considerably greater than the depth of the skin layer δ). The shape of the cyclotron resonance curve due to almost specular electron reflection by the conductor surface is investigated. It is shown that in the case d ⪡ r ⪡ l2/d the resonance has maximum intensity for a given thickness d, when the effective electron mean free path time τ* is commensurate with the quantity d/ωδ. A further improvement in the specularity of the surface, i.e., an increase in τ*, results in attenuation of the resonance and in a change in the impedance singularity at ω = nΩλ so that its resonance addition tends to zero τ*→∞ (purely specular reflection, l = ∞). The resonance frequencies are Ωλ determined by the characteristics of electrons which have a turning point in the skin layer and are reflected specularly by the opposite plate surface.
