Аннотация

The nonlinear I–V characteristics of a two-dimensional electron gas above the surface of liquid helium are investigated theoretically in the presence of a strong pressing electric field E⊥. It is shown that under these conditions there is a good possibility of experimental investigation of the spectrum of shortwave surface excitations of a quantum fluid. The dependence of the electron mobility on the amplitude of the driving field E is calculated for various possible models of the short-wave portion of the surface excitation spectrum. It is also shown that if this spectrum has a roton-like minimum, one can expect an escape effect of hot surface electrons for sufficiently high pressing fields.
