Аннотация
In the temperature range 6–40 °K we studied the temperature dependence of the rate constants of electron spin-lattice relaxation between the most photoactive sublevel of the excited triplet state of crystalline benzil and the other two sublevels. Analysis of this temperature dependence reveals that spin–lattice relaxation is induced by thermal transitions to local phonon states which result from conformational changes in photoexcited benzil molecules in the matrix of the unexcited crystal.
