Two approaches are proposed to describe a system of interacting rotors. The version developed of the self-consistent-field approximation, explicitly including simplifications related to the quasi-oscillatory nature of molecular motion in the orientationally ordered phase, makes it possible to consider anharmonic effects. The dynamics of the librational subsystem in the harmonic approximation make it possible to describe correlation effects, but completely neglect anharmonicity. The relations derived are used as a basis for a theory combining the advantages of both approaches mentioned.
