An anomaly in the spin–lattice relaxation of the cerium ion in europium ethylsulfate at high pressure

The temperature dependences of the spin–lattice relaxation rate of the Ce3+ ion in europium ethylsulfate have been measured at high pressure. It was found that an anomalous reduction in relaxation rate occurs with increasing pressure, which takes place in a jump-like fashion over a temperature interval of 0.2°K.
