Low-temperature thermal conductivity of the layered crystal CsDy(MoO4)2
Аннотация
The thermal conductivity of the layered crystal CsDy(MoO4)2 has been studied experimentally in a direction parallel to the plane of the layers, along the crystallographic b axis in the temperature range 2−90 K. Some specific features of the temperature dependence of the specimen’s conductivity on increasing the temperature were revealed: a sharp suppression of the phonon heat transport in the vicinity of the first-order phase transition with Tc = 42.03 K and the maintenance of a constant thermal conductivity up to 90 K. It is suggested that the results obtained are associated with additional mechanisms for phonon scattering arising above Tc: by defects, represented by the paramagnetic dysprosium ions and also by structural inhomogeneities.
