A new group-theoretical analysis for lattice vibrations. Behavior of levels close to high-symmetry points

We use the example of PbCl2 to illustrate the salient features of a previously proposed scheme for analysis of vibrations based on theories of induced representations and irreducible corepresentations. We discuss the discrepancies in the interpretation of levels close to isolated high-symmetry points.
