Аннотация

The band structure of the electron spectrum of a nontransition metal in the presence of a standing ultrasonic wave is calculated within the framework of the pseudopotential method. It is established that superlattice splittings induced in the spectrum near the faces of the Brillouin zone by the onset of an additional long period are governed by electron transitions of the nature of Umklapp processes and greatly exceed the “acoustic” gaps near the bottom of the conduction band. The principal energy gaps on the Bragg planes corresponding to reciprocal lattice vectors G quasicollinear with the sound amplitude u0 decrease considerably with an increase in u0.
