Anomalous multiphonon scattering of intermediate radius excitons

In contrast to previous works which studied the effects of single-phonon scattering, we have studied multiphonon scattering of broadband excitons, related to the transformation of them into local excitations. The integrated cross section for such scattering as a function of exciton energy reproduces the absorption band of the local center and becomes anomalously strong in the central region of the band where a peak appears in the exciton dispersion curve.
