The Hall effect is investigated in the layer of surface electrons on liquid helium in the temperature range 0.4–1.5 K for concentrations up to 109 cm−2 in a magnetic field up to 5 kOe. It is shown that the Hall voltage uH first increases with decreasing temperature, passes through the maximum at 0.65 K and then decreases. Such a behavior of uH is explained by an increase in the longitudinal resistivity of the electron layer due to an increase in the effective frequency of electron–ripplon collisions in the magnetic field.
