The effect of magnetic dilution of the Néel temperature of the system Dy1−x Yx Ba2Cu3O7−δ (δ ∼ 1.0&lt;x&lt;0.5) has been studied. The magnetic susceptibility measurement data show that the dependence of TN on x has an ascending region for 0&lt;x&lt;0.1, while the Néel temperature TN decreases almost linearly with decreasing concentration of Dy3+ ions in the interval 0.2&lt;x&lt;0.5. A mechanism is proposed for explaining the experimental dependence TN(x) and taking into consideration the short-range order in the arrangement of Dy3+ ions. The dependence of the extent of short-range order on the concentration of Dy3+ ions is established.
