Dipole-dipole interaction and magnetic ordering in KEr(MoO4)2 1. Model of dipole magnet for KEr(MoO4)2
Аннотация
The dipole-dipole interaction energy for the rare-earth subsystem of KEr(MoO4)2 is calculated and the magnetic configuration corresponding to the minimum energy is determined. It consists of an aggregate of ferromagnetic chains of RE ions arranged along the minimum distance c in a cell and connected with one another through antiferromagnetic coupling. The magnetic moments of ions in a chain are also directed along the c-axis. An analysis of energy characteristics for possible magnetic configurations in the presence of an external magnetic field H‖ c indicates that the metamagnetic phase transition is preferred in this system which corresponds to a quasi-one-dimensional Ising magnet according to the properties predicted for it.
