Geophysical exploration began in Uzbekistan in the mid-1950s. Since then, the entire country has been surveyed by means of gravity and aeromagnetics. Seven regional geotraverses were acquired as part of transcontinental international research projects. Logging is routinely performed in all drilled wells. Land geophysics is widely used in exploration for practically all mineral resources.
