Dr. Sanders is author of numerous articles that have appeared in journals such as Decision Sciences, Journal of Business Logistics, Sloan Management Review, Omega, Interfaces, International Journal of Production and Operations Management, Journal of Behavioral Decision Making, and others. She has written chapters for books and encyclopedias on the subject of forecasting and is co-author of the book Operations Management. Her research interests include supply chain management, third party logistics, and the role of information technology in the operations environmentRobert PremusProfessor of Economics at Wright State University. He earned his doctorate in economics and industrial organization from Lehigh University and has authored numerous scholarly papers and reports on the economics of innovation and economic growth. Information technology (IT) is the backbone of supply chain management (SCM). However, selection of specific IT applications must be made in alignment with the organizations' competitive priorities. This article profiles differences between firms based on their level of IT usage focusing on organizational competitive priorities, choice of specific IT applications, and performance measures achieved.
