Radiation-vulcanized EPDM filled with nano-SiO_2

Ethylene-propylene diene terpolymer(EPDM)has been vulcanized by means of()~(60)Co γ radiation,filled with nano-SiO_2.The influence of filler content,radiation adsorbed dose on the mechanical properties and gel percent were discussed.Results indicate that nano-SiO_2 reinforces the EPDM rubber and irradiation damage appears in a high dose.The gel percent increases with the filler content increasing,which leads to the improvement of the mechanical properties.The permeability to gased and water vapor transmission of radiation-vulcanized EPDM with nano-SiO_2 were tested,the value is less than that vulcanized by conditional metod.
