Аннотация

Due to particular attention paid by the State, public and international scientific community to the radioecological problems of the former nuclear test sites, these territories are under control and thorough consideration. Much less is paid to radioecological investigations of the uranium mining industry areas. An example illustrating the scale of the problem is tailing KOSHKAR-ATA situated in a close vicinity of Aktau city and Caspian Sea. Initially it was an internaldrainage sedimentation lake; it shallows now. Its total area is 64 km2. At its naked part of about 10 km2 the expose dose rate reaches up to 1500 μR/h at some points.
