Present Kansas Law prohibits branch banking to any extent in Kansas greater than one drive-in branch ("auxiliary teller office to be used as a motor vehicle, off-street banking facility") located within 2,600 feet of the bank which operates it. 1Some of the city bankers in Kansas feel that this law is too restrictive on then and places then in a "squeese."They suggest that, although this law may be adequate for the rural areas in Kansas, it does not give the banks in the major urban areas of Kansas sufficient leeway to deal with their probleaa.As the major cities in Kansas are growing (see Table 2).and more and more people are moving to the suburbs, "these banks feel that they must move along with their customers or lose valuable accounts.'..
