Influence of low-temperature storage conditions on oak acorns sowing qualities
Аннотация
The methodic of Quercus robur L. acorns storage at low temperatures is useful for creating of seed stock creating for reforestation as well as for the specialized genetic banks formation. Influence of the type and thickness of the polyethylene film as a part of storage container on the composition of the gas environment and acorn germination is estimated. Assessment of the seed condition during 3-year storage at low positive temperatures is made. Acorns germination naturally decreases during the entire period of observation and after 2.5 years decreases by 15-20 % from the initial value. Different batches of acorns increases germination energy during the first 7-12 months, further during storage it is gradually reduced. The energy of acorns germination of spring harvesting significantly exceeds the values of this indicator in batches of autumn harvesting acorns. Differences between moisture of batches was significance at level 0.05 at all storage period. The data obtained show that for long-term acorns storage it is advisable to ensure their humidity must be 40-45 % in combination with a set of measures for the prevention of infection of acorns by microorganisms.
