Аннотация

(101) Pyrenaria jonquieriana Laness., Pl. Util. Col. Franç.: 295. 1886 [Angiosp.: The.]. Pyrenaria jonquieriana was first presented by Lanessan (Pl. Util. Col. Franç.: 295. 1886). It was the only name under Pyrenaria and had only the very brief description “Petit arbre de 5 à 6 mètres de hauteur sur 15 à 20 centimètres de diamètre” and the additional information “Bois rougeàtre, dur. Bon pour jantes, chevilles”, which seems too simple to be taken as a validating description of a species. The following year, Pierre (Fl. Forest. Cochinch.: t. 120. 25 Jan 1887) provided a detailed description and an illustration for P. jonquieriana, ascribing the name to himself (“Pierre”). The authorship was attributed to “Pierre, ex Laness.” by Durand & Jackson (Index Kew. Suppl. 1: 354. 1906), and this was followed in recent studies on the species (e.g., Yang in Novon 15: 379–382. 2005; Ming & Bartholomew in Wu & Raven, Fl. China 12: 417. 2007; Nguyen in Fl. Vietnam 19: 281. 2017). However, Lanessan (l.c.) did not attribute P. jonquieriana to Pierre but just wrote “sp. nov.” after the name. Clearly, attribution of the name to “Pierre ex Laness.” is incorrect. If the descriptive material provided by Lanessan (l.c.) meets the requirements of Art. 38.1(a), the authorship would just be “Laness.”; otherwise the name would have been first validly published by Pierre (l.c.), and, therefore, the authorship would be attributed to Pierre but not Lanessan (Art. 46.2). Since we think that the description provided by Lanessan (l.c.: 295) is inadequate, a binding decision on whether this description meets the requirements of Art. 38.1(a) of the Shenzhen Code is requested.
