Traces of “folk islam” in the pilgrimage places of khorezm

AbstractThis paper aims to illustrate on the attitudes and perceptions of the shrines that are still preserved in the mentality of the people of the Khorezm oasis. The article reveals an essence of the concept of international Islam based on the views of a number of authors. Some shrines show traditions and ideas of “folk Islam”. Besides that, there are compared difference between instructions in Orthodox (Sunni) Islam and folk customs in the shrines. It also, analyzes the reasons for peculiarities of the Narynjon Bobo shrine.
