When chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and chronic heart failure (CHF) coexist, not only pulmonary hypertension and right ventricular failure, but also left ventricular failure, can occur. An rise in sodium uretic peptide (NT-proBNP) levels may accompany this.
