One of the important tasks of the theory of reliability and efficiency of fiber-optic communication lines is the task of creating information control systems for optical communication networks and the transition to intelligent control and engineering. The solution to this problem is possible on the basis of constructing mathematical models concerning various aspects of the structure and functioning of these systems. The paper considers the possibilities of using semi-Markov processes with a common phase space of states, hidden Markov and semi-Markov models for modeling fiber-optic communication lines.
