Abstract: The relevance of the topic is substantiated in the introduction, the object, subject, and objectives of the research are determined, a hypothesis is proposed, tasks are assigned, research methods used in the work are listed, scientific novelty, theoretical and practical significance of the work is determined, and the main provisions for defense are formulated. The chapter "Theoretical prerequisites for teaching professionally-oriented foreign language vocabulary" considers the main methodological directions of teaching vocabulary, professionally-oriented teaching of a foreign language, the concept of professionally-oriented vocabulary, the structure and stages of the formation of lexical skills and abilities, and the analysis of existing sets of exercises for teaching professionally-oriented foreign language vocabulary. The study of the question of the advantage of a particular teaching method for learning vocabulary has shown that its choice depends on the social order of society, the appearance of the results of new research in the field of methods of teaching foreign languages and related disciplines, the preferences and capabilities of the teacher.
