PRAGMATICS OF EXPRESSIVE FORMS (Analytical view into exclamatory sentences in English)

The paper aims to discuss some of the most well-known investigations on the syntax and\npragmatics of the expressive types of sentences – exclamatory forms in English. The grammatical\nanalysis of exclamatory sentences is given along with the insight into the importance of pragmatic\napproach. Differences between various terms used to denote such constructions are shed light on, and\nthe classification of them is given. Based on the analysis through examples from different modes of\ndiscourse, it has been inferred that illocution of exclamatory sentences is context dependent. It has\nbeen concluded that from the perspective of Speech Act Theory, the pragmatic analysis of expressiveexclamatory sentences needs an in – depth development as they cover every angle of it.\n
