ARTISTIC INTERPRETATION OF THE HUMAN SPIRIT IN THE NOVEL "SALAMBO" BY GUSTAV FLAUBERT

The content of this article is that the development of realism in French literature and the reflection of the realistic views in the works of French writers. Salambo ”focuses on the analysis of the human psyche and soul. Addressing the historical theme, the author decided to create a work on the history of Carthage (now Tunisia). The events of the novel take place in 240 BC. Salambo depicts an armed conflict between mercenaries and Carthage. However, by the end of the novel, the battle theme is combined with the romantic love story of mercenary Mato and Salambo. Flaubert’s heart depicts lofty images and tragic love.
