ON PROPAGATION OF NATURAL WAVES IN VISCOELASTIC MEDIA

The paper reviews the works devoted to the propagation of eigenwaves on a half-space, on the contact of two bodies, various plate and cylindrical bodies in non-classical forms.If a layer of another material is applied to the surface of a homogeneous elastic semi-infinite elastic body, then the phase velocity of the surface wave in the region of long waves comparable to the thickness of this layer, i.e. the phase velocity will depend on the frequency.This fact, which has the honor of layered structures, allows you to create waveguide elements in which the wave propagates, as well as delay lines, where the delay time depends on the frequency.It is established that surface waves can, propagate on any of the known isotropic or anisotropic bodies in an arbitrary direction.
