Isolation, identification and characterization of new Enterococcus hirae UzLA-12 and Limosilactobacillus reuteri UzLA-15 strains
Аннотация
Aims:The aim of this study was to isolate, screen, identify and characterize lactobacilli strains from healthy calves' feces.Methodology and results: Lactobacilli strains of Enterococcus hirae UzLA-12 and Limosilactobacillus reuteri UzLA-15 were isolated from the feces of one and three-month-aged healthy calves.Isolates were identified based on analysis of their morphological, physiological and biochemical properties, as well as the 16S rRNA gene fragment sequence analysis. Both strains were determined to be heterofermentative and viable in temperatures ranging from 20 C to 50 C, resistant to high concentrations of NaCl, bile and low pH values (up to pH of 4.0).The strains were characterized by assessing their antagonistic properties against pathogenic and opportunistic pathogenic microflora. Conclusion, significance and impact of study: Characterization of newly isolated E. hirae and L. reuteri revealed their attributes that make them good candidates for becoming base cultures in probiotic drugs or animal feed additives.
