Preliminary New Data Obtained by Comparing the Texts of Manuscripts and Editions of Uwaysi’s Diwan

"Manuscripts constitute the main part of our classical literature. Their study and scientific application are of incomparable importance, since they serve as a source for illuminating unknown pages of our rich history, objectively correcting errors in texts and interpreting them. Although more than 30 years have passed since our country gained independence, the legacy of some writers has not been fully studied based on sources. This situation also applies to the study of the manuscript heritage of Jahan Atin Uwaysi (1779–1845). Due to the fact that the text of the manuscripts of the poetess’s literary heritage was not published in full due to ideological prohibitions in Soviet times, it cannot be said that all aspects of her work have been studied to a sufficient degree. For the scientific resolution of these controversial situations, it is planned to create a scientific-critical text of the manuscripts of Uwaysi’s literary heritage. As the first part, the manuscript of the Diwan, stored in the Institute of Oriental Studies of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Uzbekistan under No. 1837, and the texts of its 1959-year edition will be compared. As a result of a comparative study of the manuscripts of the poetess’s literary heritage and their editions, in the article will be published for the first time the texts of 15 ghazals that were not included in existing editions. The differences between the words, verses in the text of the manuscripts of Uwaysi’s divan and other unpublished poems will be considered in further studies"
