Аннотация

This paper investigates the influence of cutting parameters ? cutting speed, feed rate, and depth of cut ? on the shear angle during the machining of titanium alloys. A comparative analysis is carried out between classical theoretical models (Merchant, Lee-Shaffer) and experimental data obtained during titanium alloy cutting. Using the chip compression ratio, the shear angle was calculated for VT3 titanium alloy over a wide range of cutting speeds. A correlation was established between the cutting zone temperature and the shear angle, confirming the dynamic nature of this parameter. An optimal cutting speed range of 50?60 m/min was identified, within which the shear angle remains stable and thermal conditions are favourable for titanium machining while maintaining tool life. The results contribute to refining chip formation models and justify the selection of cutting regimes for titanium alloys.
