FREQUENCY OF IRON DEFICIENCY ANEMIA DUE TO GASTROINTESTINAL DISEASES IN CHILDREN

This article examines the main diseases of the digestive system that cause IDA. Purpose of the study. To determine the relationship between the occurrence of IDA in children and gastrointestinal diseases. To identify diseases of the digestive system that most often lead to anemia. Material and methods: A total of 75 patients aged 1 to 17 years were examined, admitted to the 1st clinic of Samara State Medical University from September 2023 to January 2024 with various gastrointestinal disorders. The examined patients were divided into 4 age groups: 1 to 5 years (23), 6 to 11 years (17), 12 to 14 years (16), and 15 to 17 years (19). Examination results: IDA was detected in 46 patients, which accounted for 61% of the total. Of these, 9 patients (20%) had gastric ulcer or duodenal ulcer, 14 patients (30%) had gastritis, and 5 patients had inflammatory bowel disease (11%). Helicobacter pylori infection was detected in 8 of 14 patients with gastritis. Conclusions: A connection was established between the presence of IDA and gastrointestinal diseases. According to our studies, IDA was diagnosed in 46 patients, which accounted for 61% of the total. Of these, 9 patients (20%) had gastric or duodenal ulcers, 14 patients (30%) had gastritis, and 5 patients had inflammatory bowel disease (11%). Helicobacter pylori infection was detected in 8 of the 14 patients with gastritis.
