Financial Literacy and Knowledge Development in Cloud Accounting Environment: A QuasiExperimental Study
Аннотация
The digital transformation of micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) is recognized as a key strategy for enhancing efficiency, transparency, and business sustainability. However, low levels of financial literacy remain a significant barrier to the effective utilization of financial technologies, such as cloud accounting. A lack of understanding of basic accounting principles and financial recording practices has led many MSMEs to operate without adequate financial statements, limiting their access to financing and impairing their ability to make sound business decisions. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of cloud accounting training in improving the financial literacy of MSMEs. Employing a quantitative approach, the study uses a quasi-experimental one-group pre-test and post-test design. A total of 30 MSME participants were selected through purposive sampling to take part in cloud accounting training. Their financial literacy levels were measured before and after the intervention. The results indicate a substantial improvement in participants’ understanding of financial statements, transaction recording, and the use of cloud-based accounting applications. Furthermore, the training contributed to the development of positive financial behavior, including consistent cash flow tracking, financial planning, and openness to adopting digital technologies in financial management. These findings confirm that cloud accounting training enhances not only the cognitive aspects of financial literacy but also fosters behavioral changes among MSMEs toward more systematic and data-driven financial practices. The study highlights the need for integrating digital financial literacy programs into MSME development strategies, accompanied by supportive policies that promote the widespread adoption of financial technologies.
