Wide-profile continuous current converters with extended range for monitoring and control systems in the power industry
Аннотация
The article demonstrates that in industries such as electrochemistry, rolling mills, railway transport, and agriculture, the presence of significant power losses on shunts and the inability to break current conductors during technological processes have necessitated continuous transformation and control of large direct currents without interruption. Currently, lightweight, detachable, wide-range stationary and portable non-destructive converters and meters for large direct currents are not yet commercially available worldwide. Existing continuous converters and meters for large direct currents have limited conversion ranges, bulky size, significant weight, low accuracy, and limited sensitivity, and they cannot handle both direct and alternating high currents. The universal magnetic modulation continuous converters for high direct currents that we have developed address these limitations. This work presents the results of developing one such converter, with a focus on its reliability. It is shown that, considering catastrophic failure risks, the overall reliability of the developed continuous converter is 0.997. This universal magnetic modulation continuous converter can be effectively applied in practical monitoring and control systems in fields like metallurgy, land reclamation, irrigation, industry, and railway transport for continuous monitoring of both direct and alternating high currents.
