Modernist Voices in Nation-Building: A Study of Twentieth Century Writers
Аннотация
Abstract I mainly recognize the twentieth century in this research paper as the period of defining a new definition of freedom from colonialism, political and social consciousness, and cultural upheaval. The twentieth century is also recognized as the period of political transformation, the decline of imperialists and colonialists, and the drawing of a new dimension of democracy, to which Modernist Literature adds valuable contribution. The modernist writers presented the process of nation-building to the world through their writings, and by using a new experimental technique, focusing especially on individual consciousness, they have also given a contradictory contribution to the formation of a collective national identity.Especially, this research paper reviews nationalism, national identity, and cultural reconstruction by the twentieth-century modernist writers, including T. S. Eliot, James Joyce, Irish writer W. B. Yeats, and Indian English literature writer Rabindranath Tagore and Chinua Achebe, who are real modernist writers. These writers have not only brought about aesthetic transformation in literature but have also worked to raise the moral and intellectual level of developing nations. This research paper focuses on modernist literature questioning colonialism and emphasizing nationalist identity and self-awareness about the country. Let us now understand this research paper in detail.
