The article is devoted to the importance of using listening comprehension in teaching foreign languages. Listening comprehension forms the basis of communication, and the mastery of oral communication begins with it. Mastery of such a type of speech activity as listening allows a person to understand what is being reported to him and respond appropriately to what is said, helps to correctly state his answer. When learning to listen, it is necessary to follow a certain sequence of exercises. Before listening to the text, exercises are usually performed in which you need to differentiate the new, determine the title, and learn individual elements.
