Аннотация

This paper examines data transmission performance in cloud infrastructures by comparing traditional TCP/IP networks with software-defined networks (SDN). The study focuses on the impact of centralized control on first-packet latency, a critical metric for resource-intensive and latency-sensitive applications. To ensure a fair comparison, a controlled simulation environment was developed using Mininet, in which identical network topologies were implemented for both approaches. Experimental results obtained on a 10-host topology show that SDN significantly reduces initial packet transmission latency compared to traditional routing mechanisms. The findings confirm that centralized flow control and software control improve network efficiency and scalability. These results highlight the practical benefits of SDN for modern cloud infrastructures supporting big data processing and distributed services.
