Аннотация

This chapter examines the use of green deep eutectic solvents (DES) in polymer chemistry including polymerization, emphasizing its potential as greener substitutes for traditional solvents. Hydrogen bond donors along with acceptors make up DES, which has special qualities including biodegradability, low volatility, as well as adjustable solvation capacity. The chapter explores the function of DES in a number of polymerization processes, including as ring-opening, condensation, along with free-radical polymerizations. It also goes into how DES affects the final polymers’ characteristics and functionality. The chapter highlights the efficiency and sustainability improvements that may be attained by using DES in polymer synthesis, establishing them as viable options in the quest for more environmentally friendly polymer chemistry.
