Аннотация

Green deep eutectic solvents (DESs) have gained significant attention in recent years as environmentally friendly alternatives to conventional solvents in metallurgy and electrodeposition processes. DES, which are composed of a mixture of hydrogen bond donors and acceptors, offer a unique combination of properties such as low volatility, high thermal stability, and tunability, making them ideal for metal extraction and electrochemical applications. This chapter explores the role of DES as electrolytes in metal extraction and electrodeposition, highlighting their environmental and economic benefits. It also discusses the electrochemical behavior of metals in DES, the influence of DES properties on deposition quality, and the optimization of parameters for efficient deposition. Despite these advantages, several technical challenges remain in scaling DES-based processes for industrial applications, such as their high viscosity and the need for process optimization. Additionally, the chapter identifies key research gaps and future developments needed to enhance the use of DES in sustainable metallurgy.
