Biological Control of Cotton Flower Moth Helicoverpa armigera (Hübner) on Maize
Аннотация
Helicoverpa armigera (Hübner) (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae) is a polyphagous pest that causes severe yield losses in maize (Zea mays L.). Field and laboratory experiments were conducted in the Andijan region of Uzbekistan (2022-2023) to evaluate the efficacy of biological control agents. The release of Trichogramma pintoi (two applications) combined with Bracon hebetor (one release, 1:10 ratio) suppressed H. armigera populations by 45-50% in maize. Pheromone traps were used to determine the peak oviposition periods, enabling timely parasitoid release. The integration of egg and larval parasitoids significantly reduced pest incidence, demonstrating a practical and eco-friendly biological control approach for maize protection.
