Multicultural Education Development Trends: Best Practices of Belgium and France
Аннотация
The problems of multicultural education are relevant for multinational countries, which makes studying the experience of nations such as France and Belgium extremely important. France is one of the first countries in Europe to introduce multicultural education, having accumulated a wealth of experience in adapting to and integrating immigrants into the educational system. The Belgian vocational and teacher training system is undergoing rapid development, actively integrating international experience and exploring best practices in the context of globalization. This study seeks to identify and validate current trends and effective multicultural education strategies implemented in Belgium and France. To achieve this objective, we employ various theoretical approaches: literature review, data interpretation, information synthesis, systematization, generalization, and comparative analysis. These approaches identify similarities and differences in approaches to multicultural education in these countries. The findings enrich the theoretical framework of multicultural and intercultural education based on the principles of humanism and dialogue. The findings reflect a balance between integration and multiculturalism, with Belgium leaning towards explicit anti-discrimination inclusion measures and France seeking to balance assimilation and pluralistic identity acquisition through intercultural education. These perspectives outline a research domain that investigates education policies, societal integration through schooling, teacher preparedness, and curriculum development that support multiculturalism and intercultural education in Belgium, France, and Europe more broadly.
