Аннотация

The article examines strategies for preserving source meaning in translating English-language media texts. Meaning is treated as an integrated bundle of factual content, communicative purpose, evaluative stance, and discursive framing. Because media translation is shaped by time pressure, genre constraints (headline, lead, quotes), dense culture-bound references, and editorial policy, literal accuracy alone does not guarantee equivalence. The paper proposes eight strategies and a four-step decision model, along with a checklist for detecting meaning shift.
