SEMANTIC, DERIVATIONAL AND FUNCTIONAL CHARACTERISTICS OF PSYCHOLOGICAL TERMINOLOGY: A CORPUS-BASED ANALYSIS OF DEVELOPMENTAL PSYCHOLOGY TERMS

The present study investigates the semantic organization, derivational mechanisms, and functional properties of psychological terminology within the conceptual domain of developmental psychology. Drawing on a corpus of Russian psychological texts published from the 1970s to the early twenty-first century, the research examines paradigmatic and syntagmatic relations, term variation, and patterns of terminological formation. The findings demonstrate the predominance of syntactic term formation, the significant influence of interdisciplinary borrowing and reterminologization, and the dynamic evolution of semantic structures. The study contributes to terminology theory by revealing how conceptual diversification shapes linguistic form in psychological discourse.
