Аннотация
The prevalence of diabetes mellitus is steadily increasing every year. Today, diabetes mellitus is the most common non-communicable disease after cancer and cardiovascular pathologies, often leading to disability and death. Universal responses of the body to the pathological process include oxidative stress, oxidative modification of protein enzymes and activation of lipid peroxidation, which leads to uncontrolled activation of pancreatic proteases during the development of diabetes mellitus and its complications. This article discusses the angiopathies that are complications of diabetes mellitus and the role of polymorphic changes in the antioxidant system SOD2 gene in their development
