Optimizing thermal insulation thickness for building walls in Uzbekistan's climatic zones
Аннотация
This study used a Python GUI program to determine the optimal thermal insulation thickness for external walls of buildings across different climatic regions in Uzbekistan. The calculations considered region-specific Heating Degree Days (HDD), natural gas as the fuel, and expanded polystyrene foam (K = 0.032 W/m · K) as the insulation material. The program enables users to interactively enter parameters and automatically compute thermal conductivity, energy consumption, and total heating costs. Results indicated that the optimal insulation thickness is 0.042 m in Navoi (highest HDD: 2639), 0.039 m in Bukhara, 0.041 m in Samarkand, and 0.033 m in Surkhandarya. The analysis revealed a proportional increase in insulation thickness with higher HDD values. This method has practical implications for reducing heat loss, improving energy efficiency, and advancing sustainable construction. Utilising Python GUI software allows for quick, accurate, and visualised results, facilitating energy-efficient decision-making in the construction sector.
