EFFECTIVENESS OF TREATMENT OF PERIODONTITIS IN PATIENTS WITH TYPE 2 DIABETES MELLITUS USING AUTOLOGOUS PLATELET-RICH PLASMA

This study involved a clinical examination of 102 patients aged 32–45 years suffering from periodontitis associated with type 2 diabetes mellitus. Among them, 62 patients with stage I–II periodontitis were identified as having indications for surgical and reconstructive treatment. Of the total participants, 43.5% were male and 56.5% were female. The patients were divided into two groups: the main group consisted of 32 (51.6%) patients who underwent surgical treatment using the method developed by the authors, involving autologous platelet-rich plasma. The comparison group (II) included 30 (48.4%) patients treated according to the standard clinical protocol. The results demonstrated that the use of platelet-rich plasma enhances regenerative processes and improves treatment outcomes.
