Stability Rating of Business Entities - a Mechanism for Ensuring Competitiveness
Аннотация
Purpose: This study explores the role of the “Sustainability Rating of Business Entities” in Uzbekistan, introduced in 2024, as an institutional mechanism for enhancing the competitiveness and economic stability of enterprises. The rating system evaluates businesses based on financial performance, tax discipline, transparency, and social responsibility, with the integration of ESG principles. Research Methodology: The study employs a systematic and comparative approach, analyzing the structure and evaluation criteria of the Sustainability Rating of Business Entities. It also compares the system with international rating systems and assesses dynamic changes in rating categories over the period 2024–2026. Results: The findings reveal a significant upward shift of enterprises from lower to higher rating categories, indicating improved compliance, increased transparency, and the effectiveness of state-supported incentives such as tax preferences, subsidies, and access to financial resources. Digital platforms play a crucial role in ensuring automated and transparent assessment processes. Conclusions: The study concludes that the sustainability rating system in Uzbekistan functions not only as a regulatory instrument but also as a strategic tool for fostering long-term competitiveness and supporting Uzbekistan's integration into the global economy. Limitations: The study is limited by the analysis period of 2024–2026 and the available data, while the long-term effects of this rating system and its full impact on enterprises' global competitiveness are yet to be fully assessed. Contributions: This research contributes to understanding how institutional mechanisms like sustainability ratings can be used to promote economic stability and national competitiveness, as well as providing insights into the role of digital platforms in supporting business evaluation transparency.
