The Representation of Human Rights in The Online Media in Uzbekistan: Trends, Genres, And Transformations (2020–2025)
Аннотация
This article explores the representation of human rights issues in Uzbekistan’s internet media between 2020 and 2025, focusing on thematic priorities, journalistic approaches, and genre diversity. Drawing on qualitative content analysis of leading digital platforms such as Kun.uz, Gazeta.uz, Qalampir.uz, and Anhor.uz, the study identifies a transition from descriptive reporting toward analytical and investigative journalism. The findings demonstrate that internet media has become a key mechanism for promoting legal awareness, strengthening civic oversight, and shaping public discourse. While significant progress has been achieved in covering women’s and children’s rights, other areas—such as migrant rights, disability rights, and environmental justice—remain underrepresented. The study concludes that Uzbekistan’s internet journalism is increasingly aligning with international standards, yet still faces challenges related to analytical depth and thematic balance.
