Аннотация

Age-related macular degeneration (AMD) is one of the most important causes of irreversible vision loss in middle and old age in the population of developed countries. The aim of the study was to evaluate the effectiveness of choroidal revascularization using a xenograft in patients with age-related macular degeneration. Clinical trials were conducted in 104 patients (206 eyes) with various stages of AMD. Among them, there were 66 women (65.4 %), 38 men (36.5 %). All patients were divided into 3 groups: 1 — control, 2 — comparison, 3 — main. Clinical efficacy was assessed based on the study of ocular hemodynamics by the method of ophthalmic Doppler ultrasound (UDOG) in the ophthalmic artery basin, which was performed on an expert-class ultrasound system PHILIPS HD11XE using a linear transducer, at a radiation frequency of 4 and 8 MHz in continuous (or pulsed) mode. The use of xenograft in direct choroidal revascularization has demonstrated high clinical efficacy and safety, resulting in improved hemodynamic parameters: systolic blood flow in the central and peripheral arterial system by 38–40 % and a reduction in the resistance index by 35 %. Keywords: age-related macular degeneration, ocular hemodynamics, choroidal revascularization, xenograft
