The Use of Multimodal and Interactive Materials in Teaching English in Engineering Education
Аннотация
The integration of multimodal and interactive materials into English language teaching has become increasingly important in engineering education. Engineering students require not only technical knowledge but also strong communication skills in English to participate effectively in international academic and professional environments. Traditional teaching methods that rely mainly on textbooks and grammar exercises are often insufficient for developing practical language competence. This article examines the role of multimodal and interactive materials in teaching English to engineering students. It explores how visual, auditory, digital, and interactive resources improve language acquisition, motivation, and professional communication skills. The study also analyzes the pedagogical benefits of multimedia presentations, simulations, videos, online platforms, and collaborative learning activities in engineering-focused English instruction. The findings indicate that multimodal teaching enhances comprehension, increases learner engagement, and supports the development of technical vocabulary and communicative competence. However, challenges such as limited technological resources and insufficient teacher training are also discussed. The article concludes that the effective use of multimodal and interactive materials creates a more dynamic, learner-centered, and professionally relevant English learning environment in engineering education.
