Gender-Neutral Language: Necessity Or Ideological Imposition?

Gender-neutral language has become one of the most debated issues in modern linguistics and public discourse. Supporters argue that inclusive language promotes equality, social visibility, and respect for diverse identities, while critics consider it a form of ideological interference imposed on natural language use. This article examines the social, linguistic, and ideological dimensions of gender-neutral language in English. The study analyzes recent research published in the last five years in the fields of sociolinguistics, psycholinguistics, discourse analysis, and language policy. Through examples and textual analysis, the article demonstrates how inclusive linguistic forms influence communication, perception, and public attitudes. The findings indicate that gender-neutral language functions both as a practical communicative strategy and as a contested ideological symbol shaped by broader cultural and political transformations.
